

BERLIN: The Research and Innovation Authority (RIA) is representing the Sultanate of Oman at the 75th Lindau Nobel Laureates Meeting, a prestigious multidisciplinary scientific forum being held in Lindau, Germany.
The forum brings together Nobel Prize winners, leading scientists and outstanding young researchers from around the world to exchange ideas, foster collaboration and discuss some of the most pressing scientific challenges of our time.
Among the scientific highlights was a presentation by Prof John Michael Kosterlitz, recipient of the Nobel Prize in Physics, who shared insights into his pioneering research on the properties of materials at extremely low temperatures. His work has paved the way for advances in the development of next-generation materials, electronics and quantum computing technologies.
Oman's participation reflects the Research and Innovation Authority's commitment to strengthening the international presence of Omani researchers by providing opportunities to engage with world-renowned scientists, exchange expertise and stay abreast of the latest developments in science and innovation. The initiative also supports the continued advancement of Oman's research and innovation ecosystem.
As part of the programme, the forum hosted a dialogue session on global research priorities, exploring how scientific research can be better aligned with humanity's evolving needs and future challenges.
Representing Oman in the discussion was Dr Sarah bint Hamad al Araimi, Head of the Biotechnology Department at the University of Technology and Applied Sciences, who participated alongside international researchers and experts.
The annual Lindau Nobel Laureates Meeting is regarded as one of the world's foremost scientific gatherings, promoting dialogue across disciplines while inspiring the next generation of researchers through direct interaction with Nobel laureates. — ONA
